About Our Speaker
David Hammer
Dave Hammer is the Manager of Outpatient Speech and Language Services of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, PA. He has over 33 years of pediatric clinical experience, with specialty interests in childhood apraxia of speech and severe articulation/phonological disorders. Dave has presented workshops throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia and is known for his practical and therapy-rich approach to his presentations.

Workshop Description
This hands-on, practical, therapy-rich presentation will focus on strategies for therapists that facilitate verbal communication for children with apraxia of speech. An overview of diagnostic considerations will be presented with video examples to support differential diagnosis. The majority of the presentation will be intervention-based, with a wide range of therapy ideas described. A multi-sensory approach to therapy will be detailed. Videotaped examples of children in treatment will be used to highlight therapy ideas and suggestions for carryover outside of the therapy setting.
Professional level for this presentation is Intermediate.
