Stephen Groner CCC-SLP

Stephen Groner started stuttering when he was three and he received life-changing
speech therapy when he was 17 that allowed him to speak easily and enjoyably for the first
time. He became an SLP runs his own private practice treating solely clients who stutter and
clutter. He also shares his stuttering knowledge and tips online as @slp.stephen and is the
creator of innovative online courses to help make stuttering therapy simpler and less scary
for harried SLPs at slpstephen.com. He received his bachelors and masters from Vanderbilt
University in Nashville, TN and has given presentations about stuttering to thousands of SLPs
across the country. Known for being upbeat, engaging, and super practical, Stephen is
someone you want to see if you want some help treating stuttering.

Workshop Description
Do you ever get a little flutter of fear when it comes to treating school-age stuttering (ages 6-
12)?  Well, you’re not the only one. That’s why this presentation will give you an easy-to-
understand yet expansive stuttering model for understanding why it happens and what you
can do to help. This practical, useful, and lively training will detail how to assess, create goals
for, and individually tailor treatment school-age children and teenagers who stutter. In five hours, learn “the SLP Stephen way” of assessing stuttering easily and efficiently, treating preschool, school-age, and teenage stuttering simply and practically, and always keeping the client’s personal goals at the forefront. You’ll work through sample stuttering therapy cases and sessions and tackle some of the most challenging facets of therapy so you can leave feeling energized and equipped for stuttering therapy with your clients tomorrow.

Learner Outcomes
1. Attendees will leave being able to describe a simple model of stuttering that is able to fit all the experiences a person who stutters has.
2. Attendees will leave able to list their top 3 stuttering assessment activities.
3. Attendees will leave being able to model at least 5 easier communication actions for preschool-age children.
4. Attendees will leave being able to model at least 6 easier communication actions for school-age and teenage children.
5. Attendees will leave able to list at least 10 evidence-based stuttering therapy activities.
